Hello samba list, We're trialling Samba 3.6 and on some of our systems I see the following type of messages in the smbd and winbind logs: [2012/03/16 17:28:59.038177, 0] ../lib/util/tdb_wrap.c:65(tdb_wrap_log) tdb(/var/lib/samba/messages.tdb): tdb_oob len 663932 beyond eof at 12288 [2012/03/16 17:28:59.038331, 0] ../lib/util/tdb_wrap.c:65(tdb_wrap_log) tdb(/var/lib/samba/messages.tdb): tdb_oob len 663932 beyond eof at 12288 [2012/03/16 17:28:59.038408, 0] ../lib/util/tdb_wrap.c:65(tdb_wrap_log) tdb(/var/lib/samba/messages.tdb): tdb_oob len 663932 beyond eof at 12288 These messages also appear to coincide with a very long time to open up the properties panel of a file or directory on the Windows clients (a mix of Win7 and Server 2008). I poked around with increased logging levels and did some googling but nothing really relevent seems to pop up. This feels like a bug to me, but I don't feel like I have enough information to report it as such. I'd like to know what to do in order to provide you all with more detailed information about this issue. I'm happy to try and provide more information, I'm just not sure what is relevant at this point. Our systems are running Fedora 14 with Samba RPMs of the following versions: libtalloc-2.0.7 libtdb-1.2.9 samba-winbind-clients-3.6.3 samba-3.6.3 samba-client-3.6.3 samba-common-3.6.3 samba-winbind-3.6.3 For now we get along with stopping the samba services, and removing /var/lib/samba/messages.tdb before restarting them. This clears the issue up right away but it "comes back" intermittantly. I have not been able to narrow down a cause. Any help would be greatly appreciated. --John M.

I would like to check the source for libtdb to pinpoint this issue. Amitay.

Just make sure you do not have libtdb-devel package installed on your machine. That will ensure that samba is built using tdb library from the source and not the system library. Amitay.
