Obviously this is not a very important question but I was wondering why the convention seems to be to name samba log files log.something instead of something.log. For example, the smbd log is called log.smbd rather than smbd.log.
that drove me nuts also, I just change it in the smb.conf, though it still seems to populate the smbd.log with some items, that might be just restarting the daemon..
