Hello,> Important issues addressed in 3.0.23d include: > > o Stability fixes for winbindd > o Portability fixes on FreeBSD and Solaris operating systemsThere is still problem with group handling in 3.0.23d. Namely, if "winbind enum groups" =no: id command does not show all the groups of the user and the user is not able to access the directories owned by his secondary groups. Furthermore, wbinfo -r shows some spurious GIDs which do not resolve to SIDs. If "winbind enum groups" =yes: id does show all the groups of the user and the user is able to access group-owned directories. However, there are still spurious GIDs in the output of wbinfo -r In summary: it is now possible to workaround the group membership problem by "winbind enum groups" =yes. But is this correct that turning it off breaks permission handling? With best regards, P. Trifonov

Samba 3.0.23d RPM packages for all SUSE Linux products (was: [Samba] Samba 3.0.23d Available for Download)

For some architectures - like ia64, ppc, s390(x) - you find a limited releases subset. Attention: Since the .37 sub release package builds we've reorganized our directory structure for 3.0 a bit. This allows you to add the particular directory for your SUSE product as an installation source with YaST, yum, and smart. To add such a source you might also point your preferred package installation tool to the suse-samba.repo file available from each product version directory. The same package installation sources are also available at http://download.Samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/SuSE/3.0/ Please use a mirror close to your site. A list of Samba.org mirrors is available at http://Samba.org/ There choose a mirror at the right top of the page. There are also a bunch of SUSE mirrors. A list of mirror sites is available at http://en.opensuse.org/Mirrors_Released_Version If you encounter any problem with these packages please don't blame the Samba Team. Instead file a bug to https://bugzilla.Samba.org/, pick product Samba 3.0, then select 'component' Packaging and set 'assign to' to samba-maintainers at suse dot de. Or use http://bugzilla.Novell.com with the same assignee instead.
