[Samba] error message after long connect with windows client(s)
I am running Samba version 2.2 on RH9 with a 800mhz w/ 384 SDRAM. My Windows XP clients can connect and map my shares to drives on their machines with no problems, but sometimes after being connected for a couple days they suddenly cannot access the share. They receive an error message stating that it cannot connect to the server. This is only solved by rebooting the RH server, which is problematic because this is in an office with around 8 clients and it also runs the web and email server. Any help would be *greatly* appreciated.

I have very similar trouble, but not exactly same, and I am still not sure in diagnosis. _Seems_, it helps. Success report will be appreciated. Alexey

[Samba] error message after long connect with windows client(s)
Hi, for the first ,update samba to version 3, then retry but i guess that some open connects stay and cause samba to crash restarting the daemon should be enough.( have you tried it?) cause there is no version samba 2.2 ( you mean 2.2.8a? ) i dont know if your version is that old that it may have a bug with win xp. samba 3 should solve the problem but also check if you have software which is buggy to the servers files. maybe other deamons work on your samba shares and lock files. Check your samba and syslogs Best Regards ----- Original Message ----- From: <todd@nhaparts.com> To: <samba@lists.samba.org> Sent: Sunday, November 02, 2003 6:42 PM Subject: [Samba] error message after long connect with windows client(s)> I am running Samba version 2.2 on RH9 with a 800mhz w/ 384 SDRAM. > > My Windows XP clients can connect and map my shares to drives on their > machines with no problems, but sometimes after being connected for a > couple days they suddenly cannot access the share.
