[Samba] Samba Write List Macro Not Working
Hello, I have the following share configuration [%G] comment = %G global share path = /home/shared/%G public = no browseable = yes printable = no write list = @%G My question here is why can I not write to the share, when I can connect to the share? I tried the following version of write list write list = @%G @%g %U %u Nothing works... If I do the following write list = @%S then it works... Could somebody please enlighten me? Thanks Christian Gross
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 What version of Samba are you using? 3.0.0rc2 had some issues with macro expansion; you may have found another one. I think rc4 removed some of the parameters (%G %U) from some lines. If %S works, I'd use it. You could also try: read only = no valid users = %G,etc. Note: A level 10 log will show if the macro is being expanded. - -Tom SerpentMage (Christian Gross) wrote: | Hello, I have the following share configuration | | [%G] | | comment = %G global share | | path = /home/shared/%G | | public = no | | browseable = yes | | printable = no | | write list = @%G | | My question here is why can I not write to the share, when I can connect | to the share? | | I tried the following version of write list | | write list = @%G @%g %U %u | | Nothing works... | | If I do the following | | write list = @%S | | then it works... | | Could somebody please enlighten me?
