Under novell there is a map a:=sys:<yes command that allows me to get an old dos program that is hard coded to use a: working on the network. I have looked for a comperable way to do this under dos/nt/samba, and have had no luck. I first have to have a: disconnected from the floppy, then I can do a simple net use a: \\samba\share I can't find anywhere how to force a: to disconnect from hardware. Anyone know how to do this, or force it. Barry Smoke District Network Administrator Bryant Public Schools Bryant, AR
apparently, it is windows 2000 that this does not work on, forcing a 98 machine to map a: to \\samba\share works fine. I don't know whether you'll be able to remap a non-existent drive, though...
