Juri, No problem... I will help IF I can.... when I ran the "wbinfo -t" I also got "Secret is Bad" until I realized that the documentation that came with winbind from the Samba site ASSUMED that I would set my smb.conf up with these parameters: security = domain password server = * Once I enabled domain security and "*" to broadcast for a NT BDC or PDC to authenticate to... I could do a wbinfo -t and "secret is good" came back.... that might be helpful to you... if not sent me your smb.conf and I will take a quick look.... if you do please tell me what enviroment you are working in and your client.... but I probably won't be able to tell you any more than the Winbind HOW TO from the Samba site.... do you have that doc? Chris I will also post our email to the samba email list so anyone else can get help from this conversation. -----Original Message----- From: Juri Ahokas [mailto:juri.ahokas@ktl.fi] Sent: Wednesday, March 20, 2002 12:29 AM To: Chris_Sarris@csgsystems.com Subject: Samba and Winbind Hi Chris, ************************************************************************* Herb, thanks for all your help... I have winbind up and running wonderfully. I can log in with KDE and the Win2000 domain user! I am very impressed with Samba & Winbind. My boss will love this. I makes Linux a REAL client in a Win2000 Corporate enviroment! thanks tons, Chris ************************************************************************* First of all congrats on succesfully implementing Winbind to w2k enviroment. Second is how on earth You managed to do it?!? I have been fighting (!) with winbind for a week now and ready to give up and admit defeat. I would greatly appreciate Your help and tips on this one. Posting to the samba list didn?t seem to give any real answers. Main problem is that wbinfo -t, gives secret is bad announcement. wbinfo with -u or -g doesn?t work either. I have been running winbind with Winbidd -i -d5 and got some real weird output. I can send it and my smb.conf to You if You are able to help.
