Hello, This is my first time requesting help.... here it goes! I have installed and configured Samba 2.0.7, it works great the users like it, they are able to cut and paste, read/write all works well! My problem is with the password, I am able to change a users password with smbpasswd username. I would like to sync the /etc/passwd and the smbpasswd, I have the procedures and have been following them I cannot seem to find the script called "mksmbpasswd.sh" I find the mknissmbpasswd.sh for NIS+ but no mksmbpasswd for NIS. If I use the mknispasswd I get errors Not able to find "nistbladm error on line 21" Currently I am running IBM AIX 4.2.1 running NIS/NFS and Samba 2.0.7. Would someone please send me a copy of mksmbpasswd.sh hopefully this will solve my problem. TIA Nat Mendiola 714-446-2623 FU, Bldg. 676/Z313

I am in the process of configuring Samba on a Sun box (Solaris Ver. 8). I am using the latest version of Samba (2.22), which I down-loaded from sunfree.com. The problem that I was having is that, when propagate the Unix passwd file to the smbpasswd file, using the following command: cat /etc/passwd | mksmbpasswd.sh > /usr/local/samba/private/smbpasswd. I discovered the mksmbpasswd.sh script was not include in this distribution. I eventually used WEBMIN to propagate the Unix password file to Samba. I have followed all of the pointers to this file and used the find command, and still can not locate this file in the current distribution of Samba. Where/how can I obtain only this file. Samba team, I downloaded samba-2.2.8a-sol8-sparc-local.gz for installation on sun solaris. Install went well with one exception, I need to configure for password encryption. Setting up the smb.conf file is not a problem, the problem is that the tar file is missing mksmbpasswd.sh script, where can I download this from? I have searched but cant find a site to get this from......HELP Thanks... Kevin L.
