Thanks, I will have to get a copy of Samba 3.0. Would you know when it will
be officially released (or stable enough to run in production)?
I suppose I get Samba 3.0 from cvs (sorry I am a newbie to all this).

Smaba 3.0 supports Active Directory using native protocols, and Samba
2.2 supports AD using RPC. Samba 2.2 is only limited if you do not
have 'enable permission compatible with pre-windows 2000 computers'
set.
IN this case, you may need to set a 'user' account for winbind to use.
