samba - Nov 2001 - joining a win2k domain

hello

i want my samba server to join a win2k domain.  i issued the following 
command from bash:

smbpasswd -j DWARFS

i got the following message:

No password server list given in smb.conf - unable to join domain.

question: how do i configure smb.conf and the password server list?
