invalid printer name in 2.2 alpha1 release
I had this problem with alpha0 release and am still having problem with the alpha1 release Is anyone else experiencing this problem? PostedDate: 17/11/2000 01:53:08 PM SendTo: samba@samba.org Subject: printer setup problem in 2.2.0 alpha0 I am trying to check out the new automatic printer driver installation feature in the alpha release of Samba 2.2.0 on Solaris 8 but I am having some problems. When I try to add a printer from the new Samba server on an NT client it produces an error message "Could not connect to the printer. The printer name is invalid." I am able to browse and connect to other shares with no problems, and I am able to add the printer (with the same name) to a Win95 client with no problems The printer name I am currently having a problem with is hp8100. The name was originally hp8100dn_1, but I saw a message from someone else saying they fixed the invalid printer name error by removing underscores from their names. This did not help me. This printer name is working fine on previous versions of Samba. Is this a known error, am I doing something wrong, or is this something that will be fixed in the full release? Sorry if this is not the right list for this message, could it be forwarded if so... Also sorry if this has been answered before, I have not been receiving the mailing list lately. We fixed some Big Endian bugs recently (after 2.2-alpha0) ************************************************************* Opinions contained in this e-mail do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Queensland Department of Main Roads, Queensland Transport or National Transport Secretariat, or endorsed organisations utilising the same infrastructure. We will post a notice once the changes have been checked in. Thanks for being patient.
