samba - Jan 2000 - samba 2.0.6 on Irix 6.5.6m core dump problem (internal error)

Samba version: 2.0.6
computer: SGI indigo2 with a 250MHz 4400 CPU, 64MB RAM, Irix 6.5.6m

It looks like every time smbd spawns, the child process seems to die a
horrible death and leave a core file. As a result I am unable to use any
netbios services on the machine.

The core file which I have examined says that the process died with a
SIGABRT. The log files seems to indicate SIGSEGV at times.

I have rebooted the samba server several times. I am pretty sure that it
worked last week.

Below is attached the last parts of the log.smb file, a where dump from dbx
and the configuration file.

If anybody needs more information I will do my best to supply it.

Have you add the user with smbpasswd?

The binary files are compiled on a 6.2 machine and an error was found
in the debug print code that causes problems in some configurations.
The debug level by default is set to 2. Try adding the line

log level = 0

to your smb.conf to see if that fixes the problem.

You might also try doing a rebuild as I did not notice the problem
on binaries built on 6.5 machines.
