Hi, Ive just installed Samba 2.0.4b. The server has minimal load, but when I copy files from a PC (NT4 Workstation) to the Samba server, partway though the transfer I get the following error message. "Cannot copy <filename>: Network Access is denied. Be sure you have the correct network permissions to perform this operation" In log.machine the following error's are present: [1999/06/22 11:10:40, 0] smbd/files.c:file_new(85) ERROR! Out of file structures [1999/06/22 11:10:40, 0] smbd/files.c:file_new(85) ERROR! Out of file structures In log.smb the following entries are always there at daemon startup: [1999/06/22 10:46:27, 1] smbd/files.c:file_init(216) file_init: Information only: requested 10000 open files, 1014 are available. This box is Redhat 6, with compiled Samba. Not a RPM. Regards, Mark Beck
I was running 2.2.9 but downgraded to 2.2.6 to get software raid running! Where is the patch to allow more file descriptors? Out of file structures Hi Mark! I've had the same error while using Samba with RH6. I reinstalled LinuX with SuSE 6.1 and recompiled kernel 2.2.9 (now 2.2.10) and samba. The error didn't occur after that. If you are able to recompile your kernel, you may try to patch your kernel to support more file descriptors. Anyone else heard of another solution for that problem? Hi all, I'm using SAMBA 2.0.7 (okay rather old, but I have to run it, because of support matrix reasons) on a HP-UX 11.11 box (rp5470). From time to time I see the following message: ERROR! Out of file structures Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem by setting an appropriate parameter. Many thanks in advance. Bye Frank Heckes
