Howdy I am trying to print files from one linux box (nubble) on another linux box (capeblanco) using the Samba script smbprint. While it appears to me I have everything set up correctly, obviously I am WRONG..because nothing is getting printed.. I have checked the print service from capeblanco by using the smbclient -L capeblanco listing which shows the "lp printer". I have added the lp printer to the printcap on nubble following the information in the /usr/doc/HOWTO/other-formats/html/SMB-HOWTO-9.html, which is 9. Sharing A Windows Printer With Linux Machines. All directories and files shown there have been created /var/spool/lpd/lp/.config With the debugging feature in the smbprint turned on and using the command smbprint /etc/printcap. I have tried to print the printcap file from nubble on the printer lp attached to capeblanco. The debug file shows the following server capeblanco, service lp Added interface ip=192.168.0.1 bcast=192.168.0.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 Server time is Sat Jun 19 20:47:58 1999 Timezone is UTC-7.0 Domain=[LIGHT] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 1.9.18p10] security=share smb: \> the connection is made as the log.nubble shows on capeblanco with the following info 1999/06/19 20:47:58 nubble (192.168.0.1) connect to service lp as user nobody (uid=99,gid=99) (pid 2280) but thats were it ends.... The smbprint script just hangs there with the service open but nothing gets printed... I am still grinding on this but any help would be apprecitated.. This question is long enought so if anyone wants a set of the files I am using I will gladly send them out...
