Connecting from WinNT to Samba 1.9.18p10 I have another question: When I have a drive map to my Unix homedir, which should be automatically reconnected during login, I get an error that my password is not correct. If I control the log file of Samba I see: 1998/10/08 17:37:43 changed root to / open_oplock_ipc: opening loopback UDP socket. bind succeeded on port 0 open_oplock ipc: pid = 33822, oplock_port = 34454 priming nmbd sending a packet of len 1 to (127.0.0.1) on port 137 of type DGRAM Serverzone is -7200 1998/10/08 17:37:43 Transaction 0 of length 72 netbios connect: name1=SMBSRVTEST name2=MALOJA Trying username malojA 1998/10/08 17:37:43 Transaction 1 of length 174 switch message SMBnegprot (pid 33822) Requested protocol [PC NETWORK PROGRAM 1.0] Requested protocol [XENIX CORE] Requested protocol [MICROSOFT NETWORKS 1.03] Requested protocol [LANMAN1.0] Requested protocol [Windows for Workgroups 3.1a] Requested protocol [LM1.2X002] Requested protocol [LANMAN2.1] Requested protocol [NT LM 0.12] Selected protocol NT LM 0.12 end of file from client Closing connections 1998/10/08 17:37:43 Server exit (normal exit) 1998/10/08 17:37:43 changed root to / open_oplock_ipc: opening loopback UDP socket. bind succeeded on port 0 open_oplock ipc: pid = 33824, oplock_port = 34460 priming nmbd sending a packet of len 1 to (127.0.0.1) on port 137 of type DGRAM Serverzone is -7200 1998/10/08 17:37:43 Transaction 0 of length 72 netbios connect: name1=SMBSRVTEST name2=MALOJA Trying username malojA 1998/10/08 17:37:43 Transaction 1 of length 174 switch message SMBnegprot (pid 33824) Requested protocol [PC NETWORK PROGRAM 1.0] Requested protocol [XENIX CORE] Requested protocol [MICROSOFT NETWORKS 1.03] Requested protocol [LANMAN1.0] Requested protocol [Windows for Workgroups 3.1a] Requested protocol [LM1.2X002] Requested protocol [LANMAN2.1] Requested protocol [NT LM 0.12] Selected protocol NT LM 0.12 end of file from client Closing connections 1998/10/08 17:37:43 Server exit (normal exit) that my username is never sent! Instead of that it says: Trying username malojA which is the name of my client machine. So I probably can't expect it to work. If I connect manually being logged into WinNT, the log read like: 1998/10/08 17:39:43 changed root to / open_oplock_ipc: opening loopback UDP socket. bind succeeded on port 0 open_oplock ipc: pid = 26234, oplock_port = 34567 priming nmbd sending a packet of len 1 to (127.0.0.1) on port 137 of type DGRAM Serverzone is -7200 1998/10/08 17:39:43 Transaction 0 of length 72 netbios connect: name1=SMBSRVTEST name2=MALOJA Trying username malojA 1998/10/08 17:39:43 Transaction 1 of length 174 switch message SMBnegprot (pid 26234) Requested protocol [PC NETWORK PROGRAM 1.0] Requested protocol [XENIX CORE] Requested protocol [MICROSOFT NETWORKS 1.03] Requested protocol [LANMAN1.0] Requested protocol [Windows for Workgroups 3.1a] Requested protocol [LM1.2X002] Requested protocol [LANMAN2.1] Requested protocol [NT LM 0.12] Selected protocol NT LM 0.12 1998/10/08 17:39:43 Transaction 2 of length 158 switch message SMBsesssetupX (pid 26234) Domain=[ZURICH.IBM.COM] NativeOS=[Windows NT 1381] NativeLanMan=[] sesssetupX:name=[axs] SMB Password - pwlen = 8, challenge_done = 0 Checking password for user axs (l=8) adding home directory axs at /u/axs axs is in 3 groups 33536 32670 202 uid 21004 registered to name axs Clearing default real name Chained message switch message SMBtconX (pid 26234) Got device type A: Allowed connection from maloja.zurich.ibm.com (9.4.4.67) to axs ACCEPTED: validated uid ok as non-guest found free connection number 75 Connect path is /u/axs axs is in 3 groups 33536 32670 202 chdir to /u/axs chdir to /var/zurich/etc/samba 1998/10/08 17:39:44 maloja (9.4.4.67) connect to service axs as user axs (uid=21 004,gid=202) (pid 26234) 1998/10/08 17:39:44 tconX service=axs user=axs cnum=75 1998/10/08 17:39:47 Transaction 3 of length 74 switch message SMBtrans2 (pid 26234) chdir to /u/axs call_trans2qfsinfo: cnum = 75, level = 261 1998/10/08 17:39:47 SMBtrans2 info_level =261 so the SBMnegprot is correctly followed by the SMBsesssetupX, which gives my username (axs). Could anybody help me understand the difference? Or point me to some more documentation? Thank you very much!
