Dear samba@samba.anu.edu.au, Thanks for your recent message regarding `SAMBA digest 1835`. I am out of the office until 14th October 1998. You can contact me after that date. Thanks again! waine@prism-dm.co.uk
I am sure this is a SIMPLE configuration problem but I am missing it. When I double click withing Win 95 Network Neighborhood on a samba server (on SCO) to connect to it I get a dialog box: You must supply a password to make this connection. resource \\SCODEV\IPC$ password ____________ Why does it ask me this for the simple browse access of initial connection. When I connect I get my HOME directory as well as TMP and printers which I expect. Thanks in advance PS my samba conf smb.conf file is like this: >[global] > workgroup = CALIFORNIA > server string = Samba Server OE-SCO > load printers = yes > max log size = 50 > security = user > remote browse sync = 172.16.3.2 ># Cause this host to announce itself to local subnets here > remote announce = 172.16.3.2 > os level = 35 > domain master = yes > preferred master = yes > wins server = 172.16.3.2 > dns proxy = no > >#============================ Share Definitions ============================= >[homes] > comment = Home Directories > browseable = no > writable = yes > > ># NOTE: If you have a BSD-style print system there is no need to ># specifically define each individual printer >[printers] > comment = All Printers > path = /usr/spool/samba > browseable = no ># Set public = yes to allow user 'guest account' to print > public = yes > guest ok = yes > writable = no > printable = yes > create mode = 0700 > ># This one is useful for people to share files >[tmp] > comment = Temporary file space > path = /tmp > read only = no > public = yes
