We are currently using a Samba server to provide access to both HOME and PUBLIC directories to all clients of public labs. However, this Fall, once we permit access from Residence Halls, we will want to permit full access to home directories from Residence Halls, but NO access to PUBLIC, or possibly more limited access. I see that it is possible to control access to filespace services by IP address, so that should permit us to allow or deny access by IP address to PUBLIC. Is there any way to control access to a sub-tree structure within PUBLIC - eg. permitting full campus access to courseware and freeware but restricting access to the commercial library by IP or subnet? Or, will we need to create separate FREEWARE and COMMERCIAL shares with different "allow hosts = ..."
