Hello, I've looked through all the postings and can't seem to find an answer to my delema. I have tested this on an XP and win2k box and get the same results. I'm trying to rsync a fairly large directory (approx. 1.6 GB) from a windows machine to a linux box for backup purposes. The process hangs at the same point everytime. When I try to rsync smaller portions of the same large directory, or the particular directory where the process hangs, everything works out fine. I have tried both compressed and uncompressed transfers. I am running the following: Windows 2000 running cygwin rsync 2.5.5 and OpenSSH_3.4p1 (the sender) Redhat 7.3 with rsync 2.5.4 and OpenSSH 3.1 Rsync reports the following at the time it hangs: <snip> recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.Flyer.doc,6417) recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.Hosting.Agreement.Appendices.doc,6418) recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.Hosting.Agreement.doc,6419) recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.Overview.doc,6420) recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.References.doc,6421) recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.Responsibilities.Defined.doc,6422) recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.SLA.doc,6423) recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.Savings.doc,6424) recv_generator(Desktop/secdog docs/SecDog.Secure.Statement.doc,6425) recv_generator(Desktop/securing_an_internet_name_server.pdf,6426) recv_generator(Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014.htm,6427) recv_generator(Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014_files,6428) recv_generator(Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014_files/Thumbs.db,6429) recv_generator(Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014_files/li-dsol.gif,6430) recv_generator(Desktop/spsiig.doc,6431) recv_generator(Desktop/tct-1.09.tar.gz,6432) recv_generator(Desktop/video.html,6433) generate_files phase=1 </snip> An strace gives the following results at the time it hangs: <snip> 20440 write(1, "recv_generator(Desktop/sed FAQ, "..., 54) = 54 20440 lstat64("Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014.htm", 0xbffff5c0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) 20440 write(1, "recv_generator(Desktop/sed FAQ, "..., 56) = 56 20440 lstat64("Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014_files", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0700, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 20440 lstat64("Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014_files", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0700, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 20440 write(1, "recv_generator(Desktop/sed FAQ, "..., 66) = 66 20440 lstat64("Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014_files/Thumbs.db", 0xbffff5c0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) 20440 write(1, "recv_generator(Desktop/sed FAQ, "..., 68) = 68 20440 lstat64("Desktop/sed FAQ, version 014_files/li-dsol.gif", 0xbffff5c0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) 20440 write(1, "recv_generator(Desktop/spsiig.do"..., 40) = 40 20440 lstat64("Desktop/spsiig.doc", 0xbffff5c0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) 20440 write(1, "recv_generator(Desktop/tct-1.09."..., 45) = 45 20440 lstat64("Desktop/tct-1.09.tar.gz", 0xbffff5c0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) 20440 write(1, "recv_generator(Desktop/video.htm"..., 40) = 40 20440 lstat64("Desktop/video.html", 0xbffff5c0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) 20440 write(1, "generate_files phase=1\n", 23) = 23 20440 select(8, [7], [4], NULL, {60, 0}) = 1 (out [4], left {60, 0}) 20440 write(4, "\274\2\0\0\0\0\0\0007\30\0\0\0\0\0\0\274\2\0\0\0\0\0\000"..., 3580) 3580 20441 <... select resumed> ) = 1 (in [4]) 20440 select(8, [3 7], NULL, NULL, {60, 0} <unfinished ...> 20441 read(4, "\274\2\0\0\0\0\0\0007\30\0\0\0\0\0\0\274\2\0\0\0\0\0\000"..., 16384) 3580 20441 select(7, [3 4], [3], NULL, NULL <unfinished ...> 20444 <... select resumed> ) = 0 (Timeout) 20444 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {60, 0} <unfinished ...> 20440 <... select resumed> ) = 0 (Timeout) 20440 select(8, [3 7], NULL, NULL, {60, 0} <unfinished ...> 20444 <... select resumed> ) = 0 (Timeout) 20444 select(6, [5], NULL, NULL, {60, 0} <unfinished ...> 20440 <... select resumed> ) = 0 (Timeout) ...... </snip> Does anyone have any idea how to remedy this?
