I have an smbd process that is using alot of cpu on HP-UX 11.11 using Samba 2.2.3a. It looks like the application on the client side is trying to open and close a ton of files, many of which do not exist. When I do a trace on the smbd process, I see repeated calls to lstat64 to what looks like all of the device files on my unix server. Here is a little bit of the trace. It goes through all of the /dev/dsk/*, /dev/rdsk/*, /dev/pty/*, so I am pretty sure it is searching all available device files. Is this an expected behavior? Hi Chris, your commit 103140 broke PR397 for llvm-gcc (in LLVM 2.9) and dragonegg. In the PR, asm renaming creates two linkonce functions with the same asm name (in the IR they are @"\01lstat64" and "@lstat64". What used to happen is that they were both output to the assembler file, both with the name lstat64, exactly like GCC does. Hi all, I have a problem with samba : I can create files, but can't create directories. The server has many shares, on seperated disks. We consider two of them : one 2Tb share and one share with more than 7Tb. Samba configuration is good, and works on many other servers, and on this one except for the large share. Rsync or find on the new structure takes dramatic longer, talking about 5 minutes for a find on the old structure and hours on the new structure. Using strace I tracked it down to lstat64. On the old structure lstat64 takes on average 37 usecs/call while on the new structure it is over 2,400 usecs/call. EL4 does not seem to have this problem, unfortunately I can't just upgrade, out of other reasons. So anyone have ideas why lstat64 would be so much slower on the new structure?...
