>any one ? >mabye i should get that cedega or what ever its called >or should i send a error report to wine hq ? saying that two people (me and Abdoo47) have this problem ?What one game specifically are you trying to run? We should focus on getting one to work, preferably a simple one. When you say it doesn't "run," does it even install completely? Does anything work with wine? If no game works, it sounds as if your installation is bad somehow. What version of wine are you running? in terminal, type wine --version What distro are you running? Ubuntu, Red Hat, etc. How Can you try to run the game in terminal and attach the terminal output if it is not too long? If it is long, there is a space somewhere, where you can park it.

If memory serves me well it was a 2005.x version of wine that caused that. Anyways at 640x480 and 8 or 16 BPP performance was back to normal. To do this you will probably have to edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file (if it exists) or create a new one. Ask you distro support how to do that.
Did you try setting winecfg to "emulate a virtual desktop," with the resolution set to 640x480, as the AppDB "Cure for slowness" note recommends? http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=149
yes dimesio i tried them john i will try that thanks
ok john i did that when i did it starcraft wont start at all just starts a blank screen and then i have to restart if i do it 1024x1280 and 8 bit then starcraft still haves a black screen any other ideas ?
In case of starcraft set DirectDrawRenderer to opengl, then we will use the video hardware to do the palette conversion (using shaders or GL_EXT_paletted_texture) which should be fast. This works fine on Nvidia but might not work well on other drivers.
yer i did that am sure i did it right maybe you can post a picture of how you did it to make sure i did it right is it possible there may be a program like this for linux http://download.cnet.com/Game-Speed-Changer/3000-18541_4-10415738.html that would fix the problem would it not ?
