wine users - Jul 2008 - strange performance issiue (baldurs gate 2)

hi,

I'm experiencing some kind of strange performance problem when running
baldurs gate 2 with wine. It takes me about 10 to 12 minutes to start a new game
or load an old one. it's only the loading itself that takes so long. The
game is running at normal speed when fully loaded.

Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

What version of Wine? Did you recently upgrade? Have you installed any new
programs in Wine? Has anything else changed on your system?

i would... but i uses WINEDEBUG=-all recently and now there is no output on the
console anymore. i tried +all but this gives to much messages. what is the
default for WINEDEBUG?
