Ok... here's my big problem with the nVidia drivers. Ever since I upgraded to 0.9-6 DGA mode with Starcraft has been broken!, and now with the 0.9-767 drivers Starcraft has refused to work AT ALL. If I replace the drivers back to the 0.9-5 (which are dreadfully unstable with SMP) Starcraft works fine. Any resolution, any color depth. With 0.9-6 I have to run Starcraft at 8-bit depth, else I get strange mirroring effects, showing that it's only writing 8-bit information on a 32-bit screen. With 0.9-767... well, that just crashes flat on its face. I'm frustrated! I'm pissed! These nVidia drivers are BROKEN! The 0.9-7 series are very broken for me - X will never start the first try (the server segfaults), and will randomly freeze the whole system afterwards. I downgraded to 0.9-6 (which does work for me, but I don't play Starcraft :) -- Ian Schmidt - ischmidt [at] cfl [dot] rr [dot] com WINE Screenshots: http://wine.godmonkey.com/

I updated to wine-20010305 about the same time I updated to the 0.9-767 drivers. I received the same results but figured it was due to a change in wine (I seem to remember some change in the DIB handling code being mentioned somewhere). I didn't do any checks to verify the real cause since running it on an X-server with "-depth 24" specified lets it work just fine. No noticeable speed penalty (on a Athlon 900MHz with a Geforce 2MX card). Tim
