asterisk users - Feb 2008 - how to create a standalone voicemail server

HI list,
i've been googling all night looking for a tutorial that shows how to make
an asterisk standalone voicemail server , no way !!!!!
can someone redirect me or explain me how to do this

I think is a traditional Asterisk box with a dialplan with voicemail()
application in the first priority of every one...

The issue to resolve is about messages indicators... anyone with this?
