Hello all I have come to Asterisk with no previous telco experience. As I will be playing with Asterisk really soon, I would like to have some pointers as to some tutorials in telco that could help me get into all this. If you a PDF document on installing Debian Stable, I would be happy to provide one for you. Just email me off-list. What I did was just installed Asterisk Stable, install the sample config files, and then started Asterisk. I just looked at the example configs and modified them. They are a great source of knowledge as well, in the commented sections. Also, just to echo what has already been said, the wiki is a great reference. Learn how to search through it and you'll be all set. I too had very limited telecom experience prior to checking out Asterisk, but it has got my interest for sure, and I've learned quite a lot. -- Dana
We all at one time were in the same boat. Well my suggestion is do allot of reading on the wiki for asterisk, 2nd get your self a PC load Asterisk@home and start working with it. It has everything you need to get started. And it works. Now you don't have to keep it with the supplied .conf files you can change them and add to them. But it will get you started the right way. Also the chat on freenode #asterisk is very good for information. Wiki => http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk Asterisk@home => http://asteriskathome.sourceforge.net/ Good luck and welcome to our club. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Fred Blaise Sent: Thursday, March 24, 2005 6:46 AM To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Newbie pointers Hello all I have come to Asterisk with no previous telco experience.
