Digium need to take some of the flak on this imho. I say this because I feel their marketing should make it abundantly clear that Asterisk is not a simple product to configure & admin. (side note: If you havent bought their hardware and are using Asterisk for "free" them again you should expect even less assistance imo) That is to say I don't see how people without either programming experience or some good scripting knowledge would really be able to get the most out of Asterisk (certainly in a business environment). If its for a business then you should pay someone to help. If your playing with it at home then that's great but just don't expect quick replies for beginner advice on this list. My take is by all means ask just don't expect pleasant replies if your installation / config questions are answered on the WIKI or if you are requesting "dumbing down" of the info given. That said some people do reply to questions in an overly aggressive and unconstructive manner and this helps nobody. Best course of action is ignore the question and move on with whatever keeps you off the streets during the day ;-) Good luck Alex Information contained in this e-mail and any attachments are intended for the use of the addressee only, and may contain confidential information of Ubiquity Software Corporation. Do you expect the support that retail software provides? No - Good that's what you got! Yes - Sorry but not many people on the list get paid to help users. (e.g. the sterling work the Snom support guys give to this list, kudos there) However if you did pay Digium something towards Asterisk (however they wish to model their business is up to them) then I would say you have a right to expect a higher degree of support. That's the point I was trying to shield my comments from. You get what you pay for at the end of the day. If you think an open source project isnt good enough then by all means move on (vote with your ermmm downloads!?!?) (This one needs to be done > very carefully.)The last two ideas are really dangerous, given the very high volume of this list, a lot of people is subscribed to the digest version of the list (myself included), and that break the association between header and reference. The issue of being subscribed to the digest was discussed in november. So that would mean lot's of people would be marginated to post. Also, each MUA handles things sightly different and making post acceptance rules so strict would have a terrible effect. ====Miguel Ruiz Velasco Version: OpenKeyServer v1.2 Comment: Extracted from belgium.keyserver.net Signature: 0x59831109 __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I did use threading in Outlook, but like many clients it "fakes" it using the subject headers. It wasn't until I started using Thunderbird elsewhere that I understood what people were complaining about.
