Hello Everyone, I want to start using Asterisk with Cisco IP Phones 7960 / 7940/ and 7905. Any info or help is appreciated. I know I'll have to use SIP but if I want to use the phones off site meaning from my home for example, how can this be done? Also, regarding external lines what are the options for Asterisk? Thanks Walid -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/attachments/20041204/1cd2c2a2/attachment.htm
No you don’t have to use SIP. You can also use the SCCP channel on * with Cisco phones. Granted I haven't really hammered on the Asterisk version of SCCP. With this being said, is the SCCP project for Asterisk dead? Why is the Asterisk version of SCCP so unstable and crappy? Is there any effort underway to improve the support of SCCP for Asterisk? This would be great to be able to use the Cisco phones on * that don't support SIP such as the color 7970 phone. Also there are a bunch of features on Cisco phones that are only supported with SCCP such as multicast paging which would be great to use with *. My experience with SCCP (outside of Asterisk) is that it is very feature rich and stable. Keith ---- Let me CLARIFY for those that might not get what I ment.. DO NOT RECOMMEND SCCP unless you have actually installed and used it. Its crap... SIP is what you want if you use a cisco phone with asterisk. bkw -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
