[Asterisk-Users] number of simultaneous calls with E&M
Hullo over there. i'm trying to link an asterisk box with a legacy PBX system with a four wire trunk line. the legacy PBX has 21 analog phones connected to it and i would like to route calls to another site via the asterisk box. i would like to use E&M signaling over this line. my question is how many simultaneous calls can you have over this line with E&M signaling. is there a better way of doing this apart from using T1? _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!? [Asterisk-Users] number of simultaneous calls with E&M
I've done this with a Fujitsu 9600. With T-1 interface cards on both the legacy PBX and Asterisk you'll get 24 voice channels. If the legacy PBX is capable you can configure the circuit as E-1 and get 32 channels. Mine works well. With E&M you won't get the caller's name but you will get caller's number (CID). [Asterisk-Users] number of simultaneous calls with E&M
I'm not certain I understand your question, however: If you have one four wire E&M trunk interface then you can only handle one call over it at a time. E&M is a handshaking protocol, not a multiplexing protocol (such as the protocols used by T1 circuits, which give 24 channels on one pair). Hope that helps.
