Hi there.. Compiling Asterisk (CVS from 10.05.04) with gcc 3.3.2 works fine. But I have to compile the Kernel with GCC 3.4. Trying to compile Asterisk with gcc 3.4 will result in a compiler-crash. Any idea? Yours, Karl

Even if you use 3.4 for the kernel, you can use a different version for your applications.> Trying to compile Asterisk with gcc 3.4 will result in a > compiler-crash.Qualify this, is there error messages about the code or does the compiler itself segfault. If the compiler fails, you need to make sure your machine isn't the problem. Then you need to contact the gcc people to see why the software blew up, especially since it is a "stable" release. -- Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>

On Cooker we did have problems with these early kernels and a simple change to the -O option sorted it out, then GCC was reworked and all the problems cleared up. So as Critch said why do you have to use GCC 3.4? -- Dave Cotton <dcotton@linuxautrement.com>
I compile Asterisk with gcc3.4 occasionally to check for compatibility (under RH9) Aside from some compiler warings it compiles just fine. Your issues seem to be more related to running gcc 3.4 under the newer kernels rather than compiling asterisk with newer version of gcc.
