Hi, I have a redhat 9 asterisk server with tdm400p three ports, and a x100p installed at home. I am not running X or framebuffers. Every so often like once a month, I lose dial tone on my channels. Asterisk still responds at the cli. I don't see any log entries pertaining to this. If I restart asterisk it does not change. I have to reboot the computer, which I would think would be a hardware problem, or an OS issue. I can't seem to make it happen when I want so troubleshooting is an issue. The irq's are ok as seen below. I am not doing smp, or multithreading as some posts would reveal that as a problem. These are brand new cards from Digium. The tdm is a new card with the power connected. I tested the power supply and it is supplied the correct voltages. I have had similar issues with mine TDM400 w/4 modules. I get both no dial tone and sometime a large level of static on the port and although sometimes manually unloading and reloading the drivers will correct the problem most of the time I have to reboot the system. Also, do you get messages like below in your messages log? Feb 10 10:16:07 localhost kernel: Ouch, part reset, quickly restoring reality (2) Feb 10 10:16:07 localhost kernel: Ouch, part reset, quickly restoring reality (3) Feb 10 10:16:07 localhost kernel: Power alarm on module 1, resetting! Feb 10 10:16:07 localhost kernel: Power alarm on module 2, resetting! Digium has replace my card once and I have seen the same results in to different Computers. They have verified my zap.conf and zapata.conf configurations and I am now having to reboot my machine every night via crontab to keep the system running effectively. So, far for about a week the reboot once a day has keep it running with out incident but I don't no if the usage increase on the TDM400 if would start failing btw reboots. Sorry no answer but it seems we may be having similar problems. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Bevins To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2004 12:24 PM Subject: [Asterisk-Users] TDM card loses Dial tone Hi, I have a redhat 9 asterisk server with tdm400p three ports, and a x100p installed at home. I experienced similar problems too with a 4 chan tdm400. This seems to especially happen when you make configuration changes. It has nothing to do with runing X or no, it does not even have to do with redhat... I experienced the same problem on mandrake. One thing you have to be extra careful is when restarting, make sure that all the modules have entirely reloaded before expecting a dialtone with an asterisk debug console "asterisk -rvvvv"... many of the times I thought there was no dialtone and the asterisk process had gone cukoo, I noticed that configuration was not entirely reload. Yet, reloading many times seems to get some of the TDM400 channels hung. On the other hand, this problem does not seem to happen as extensively when no reloads are made Youness At 17:54 11/02/2004, you wrote:>"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" xmlns:w = >"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word"> >I have had similar issues with mine TDM400 w/4 modules. Same here... Usually after several of these show up in my system log: Power alarm on module 1, resetting! Need to unload/reload module wcfxs in order to get the dial tone back. Happens several times a week, sometimes more frequently. Same here. I, too have received replacement cards from Digium, and I have even tried replacing the proSLICs, all to no avail. Also to note: the same port on each (of three) cards always goes out first. I have been experiencing the same problem with my 4-port Digium FXS card. I see Ouch, reset... messages on the console. One of the lines, maybe 2, will either lose dial tone completely, or have tons of static on the line. On the latest event, today, I noted that even when the dialtone was gone, asterisk could still detect that I took the phone off-hook. To clear it up, either reboot, or, I find that bringing down asterisk, then rmmod the wcfxs, and then modprobing it back, and ztcfg, and restart asterisk, usually brings the lines back to life. Frequency: maybe 1 or 2 times per week at the worst, once every other week at the best. I have the newest 4 port card. Yes, it is plugged into the power supply. Yes, the TDM has IRQ #4, all to itself. What is going on? Is there any hardware config that NEVER has any problem? murf -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... The problem is that the power is occasionally dropping to a point where the TDM board attempts a reset. These power dips can sometimes leave the hardware in a strange state. -Tilghman
