Is anyone successfully using this phone with Asterisk? There is a lot mentioned about CISCO but nothing about Nortel... Alex.
The i2004 does not handle SIP natively. There is an addon-software for a PC that will do SIP with an i2004. But the software is not available publicly. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alexander Romanov" <alex@rnsinternational.com.au> To: <asterisk-users@lists.digium.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2003 9:00 PM Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Nortel i2004> Is anyone successfully using this phone with Asterisk? Nortel i2004 spec is available here. http://www.nortelnetworks.com/products/library/collateral/i2004.pdf Documentation implies H.323 and MGCP interoperability. I am not sure of the nature of the relationship, but the Nortel phones are very similar, at least in appearance, to IP and analog phones sold by Aastra. Cory @ VOIPSupply.com

If you buy an i2004 alone, it's quite useless for now. -- Carl

They are not, nor ever will be, standards compliant. If Nortel is promising such, ask them to outline EXACTLY what hardware is needed to make that happen. There WILL be a gateway of some sort involved. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.300 / Virus Database: 265.8.8 - Release Date: 14/02/2005
