Option 1 is to see if your panasonic pbx supports a T1 interface, and is afordable for the number of lines you wish to connect via asterisk. Or you use a FXO/FXS solution to connect the 2. Since it is easier to get FXO ports for asterisk right now than FXS ports, you will want to connect a FXS port of the panasonic pbx to a FXO port on the asterisk machine. So you probably want to get X100P cards in the number of lines you wish to be able to connect to the far side.> As I am in New Zealand, which uses different ring tones/cadences to the > US, are there any issues there? > > Any comments, caveats on this setup gratefully received. > > Regards, > > Richard Scobie > > > _______________________________________________ > Asterisk-Users mailing list > Asterisk-Users@lists.digium.com > http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-users-- Steven Critchfield <critch@basesys.com>

[Asterisk-Users] Integrating Asterisk with an existing PBX
I am hoping to implement an asterisk system between two offices as below |-------| | PBX |-----(XXX)--[asterisk]---[VPN]----[asterisk]--(FXO)--phone |-------| | |-(FXS)--PSTN I am unsure which interface I need to connect the existing analog (Panasonic) PBX to asterisk, assuming I will be connecting on the office side of the PBX (making the asterisk an extension on the PBX). I am assuming it will be an FXO and envisage using Zaptel interfaces. Replacing the PBX with asterisk is not an option at this stage. As I am in New Zealand, which uses different ring tones/cadences to the US, are there any issues there? Any comments, caveats on this setup gratefully received. Regards, Richard Scobie

I was hoping to connect to the FXO side of the PBX, as this would allow people in the PBX office to call the remote office, using an internal extension number. At the remote office end, a user can dial a PBX office extension directly and also make PBX office local PSTN calls by dialling the PBX outside line prefix. I had been thinking of using the S100U FXS to do the above, but going by your comment, would I be better waiting for the TDM10B to become available. Perhaps I can do all this from the FXS side of the PBX - currently I am still learning the capabilities of the Panasonic. Regards, Richard Scobie
