I recentrly tried passthrough of an LSI 8x SAS controller to Solaris
Express 151. While running baremetal the LSI controller is well
supported in Solaris. Running Solaris as PV oder HVM DomU under OpenSuse
11.4 with Xen 4.0.2 and kernel 2.6.37 the DomU would freeze right after
boot (grub). I experienced the same with OpenSolaris 2009.06 and build
141 and if I recall correctly with NexentaStor Community as well.
With FreeNAS / FreeBSD kernels as PV DomU it seams to work though. And
as ZFS support was all I wanted, I stuck with FreeNAS.
Hope that helps.
