dovecot - Feb 2005 - pam_mkhomedir and dovecot

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has successfully managed to configure pam_mkhomedir
and dovecot, so that users home directories are automatically created?

As far as I can tell, the login process runs as a non-root user, which
results in a permission denied error while trying to create the users home
directory.  I'm not sure if this error is specific to dovecot or pam though.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I have a setup just as you describe. It is running on Fedora Core 2 
(i386). I would suggest making sure that the parent directory has the 
correct permissions. My root home folders are group-writable, which is 
acceptable since the only services accessing them are limited to the 
mail server.
