We need to maintain GoogleAds on wiki.centos.org ... so let's not ask for them to be removed :D However, what I think makes sense from a space perspective is this: If we can move the search box down and stick it in the same place as the "More Actions" drop down box, then maybe we can move the GoogleAds down into the title bar beside the CentOS Logo. I am also OK with a right side "Tower" for GoogleAds if that would be better. Either of those 2 solutions can give us more usable space in the "Above the Fold" area. I like the current look on http://wiki-m.centos.org I have no idea if those changes are possible or not. Well, the modern-CentOS-1.6 theme moved the search form into navibar. See the screenshot here: http://wiki.centos.org/FrontPageProposal?action=AttachFile&do=get&tar... and you can download it here: http://wiki.centos.org/FrontPageProposal?action=AttachFile&do=get&tar... > I like the current look on http://wiki-m.centos.org and the new one ? Sure it doesn't, because I broke while installing. Problem: It's nice to see the search bar moved out of the head, but now it is only visible when you are logged in. Alain Reguera Delgado wrote: > where would you like it should be ? or could we make navibar always > visible ? or ... If possible on the *right* hand side of the page at the same height the "Navigation Tabs" are? Those are always visible. *I* (well, and that's me and so only my opinion) like it that none of the other wiki stuff is visible to a non logged in user. The missing search bar and the placement of the google ads are the only gripes I have about that theme at the moment. Well, if we move the search box to the navibar link space, what would happen if need to add more navibar links ? If for a moment you consider to make the editbar always visible, take a look at the following: http://wiki.centos.org/FrontPageProposal?action=AttachFile&do=get&tar... Relevant changes in modern-CentOS-1.6-3: - Make the editbar always visible - Add background to headers (h1, h2, h3, h4, h5). Related file: moin-hx-background.png - Show small icon before links (we can change this, just talk about it) - Adjust navibar position (make it a little more like original modern theme) - Adjust pagetrail separator (change to "/ " as in default modern theme it is) - Adjust table-of-contents. Add left and rights borders and adjust position. - Add white background to navigation table, to make its links to contrast over the blue header background. - Add WIKINAME variable to install.sh, to make it a little more customizable. Cheers, al.

Those are always visible. Like the following screenshot ?: http://wiki.centos.org/FrontPageProposal?action=AttachFile&do=get&tar... Relevant changes in modern-CentOS-1.6-4 - Move searchform out of editbar. Now it is on navibar right side. - Remove border-top on header's editbar. - Adjust navibar padding. Download modern-CentOS-1.6-4 theme at: http://wiki.centos.org/FrontPageProposal?action=AttachFile&do=get&tar... > *I* (well, and that's me and so only my opinion) like it that none of > the other wiki stuff is visible to a non logged in user. Maybe just the google ads now :) Could be possible to reduce the google ads height, just make it a line, so that we could put it on the user info line, at the right side of the page? This way the pagelocation links are not affected. What do you think ? Cheers, al.

Yeah, I also saw that after logging in - I'm testing it at the moment with a non logged in user. Second thing is that by putting the "search label" above the searchbox, the same happens on the Navibar *below* the rest of the page - and so it is rather unreadable there. Yes, so take a look at: http://wiki.centos.org/FrontPageProposal?action=AttachFile&do=get&tar... Relevant changes in modern-CentOS-1.6-5 - Adjust searchform code and position. (Thanks to Ralph Angenendt's css diff) - Remove label from searchform and leave just the input value text as references. - Adjust navibar. - Change the pagelocation separator to ? . Do you still see the breadcrumbs lost here ? Cheers, al.

There are some troubles with the two searchform variant, the version modern-CentOS-1.6-7 fix this by removing the searchform at bottom and just leaving the upper one. http://wiki.centos.org/FrontPageProposal?action=AttachFile&do=get&tar... What do you think ? would be convenient to have the searchform at bottom too ? Thanks, al.

I haven't kept track of the full discussion, but I think this layout is definitely an improvement over the current layout. Some comments: - The tab color for the selected page doesn't match up nicely with its background. - I think a full-blown background for every heading within the page is not easy on the eyes. How about just a colored heading (with no background)? Thanks for making this happen Alain! -- Daniel
