I''ve a question on pool naming that I wanted to pass by the group. Storage has a lot of different types that could be relevant in pool names. I''m thinking of something like: server - internal drives - FC HBA - array 1 (performance centric) - array 2 (performance centric (mirror)) - array 3 (capacity centric) The above would be typical for a single server oracle solution. Array 1 and 2 are mirrored (perhaps over long distance), while the 3rd is for the exports/backups of the oracle data. I was thinking that the relevant pools would be: local - internal drives array 1 and 2 - dbpool array 3 - arcpool I thought using the system name for the internal drives would work as well. The reasoning behind breaking the db and arc areas out was to make sure that oracle DB areas remain on the performance centric storage. I thought the above could work in a cluster as well. Does anybody have alternate ideas? Thanks. ----- Gregory Shaw, IT Architect Phone: (303) 673-8273 Fax: (303) 673-8273 ITCTO Group, Sun Microsystems Inc. 1 StorageTek Drive ULVL4-382 greg.shaw at sun.com (work) Louisville, CO 80028-4382 shaw at fmsoft.com (home) "When Microsoft writes an application for Linux, I''ve Won." - Linus Torvalds
