[zfs-discuss] Trying out zfs commands with a single harddisk :-)
Hi, I am new to solaris and zfs, so wanted to learn something on them. I just have a single harddisk (40 GB)and a open solaris distro Belenix that installs on to harddisk Since I just want to try out commands of zfs (Belenix has zfs support) can I install belenix on 20GB of harddisk and then create 2 10GB size (mirrored) disk partitions for zfs partitions? Will that work? Since I just need to try working out commands of I dont mind performance problems. Regards Ganesh This message posted from opensolaris.org

I guess you can do that but why not go with this aproach instead if you just wan''t to try zfs? http://www.cuddletech.com/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=446 This message posted from opensolaris.org

I wouldn''t have thought there would be a very large overhead, in that case (at least I hope not?). grant.

Hi, Many thanks to all those who responded to my query. As stefanjo pointed out I am just using files as disks to experiment with zfs commands. Its working. As I said before i dont mind performance. Just want to checkout zfs. Thanks a lot Regards Ganesh This message posted from opensolaris.org
