Hi, I am a post-graduate researcher, I''m looking to into the emulation of intel chipsets and PassThrough of Intel''s IGD. I am working with the QEMU branch where this is not supported. I understand that XEN has been successful in this field. I am relatively new to all of this, but I am keen to make a contribution back into QEMU which I hope would be of interest in XEN''s branch of QEMU. I do need some guidance, and thus I am hoping that a XEN developer will see this as an opportunity rather than burden. Please get in-touch if you: * can discuss the high level workings * know about the IGD dependent registers in PCH * know about the memory mappings. e820, etc required Again, I am looking to significantly overhaul QEMU''s support for modern intel chipsets with IGD support. I just hope that will be useful for XEN... Best Regards, Andy _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xen.org http://lists.xen.org/xen-devel

Hi Ian, I would agree if I had specific questions. I''m really looking to engage in a topic from top to bottom. I feel this would be best achieved this way. You''ll need to start by digging in and work from there with specific questions etc. A good starting point would be perhaps to setup a system using the existing stuff, using the wiki and search engines etc. http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Asking_Xen_Devel_Questions Ian.

I am trying to take a big step back (an 8 month step) and really re-consider my approach and understand of the both the problem and the general workings at this level. So really what I am asking for is a rapport with a developer that worked on XEN''s Intel IGD code so that I may compare understandings and approach. Hi Andrew, As far as I know, the traditional qemu tree for xen supports IGD pass-through. Maybe it is good place for you to begin you research. I am still looking to get in touch with a developer that is familiar with what I''ve talk about so far. I am sorry that I have given some you the impression of ''ask first, shoot later''. because it is not the case. I''ve been working with this for some time and now I would really like to discuss with someone who knows more. I''ve tried to avoid specific questions because it would require assumptions on my part. Regardless of that, here is a typical question in this topic that I would like to discuss as broadly as possible: what registers from the PCH are required by intel''s IGD / drivers?
