Hi, I have just installed Xen-3.4.2 (x86_32 version) and dom0 on an old test machine with P4 3.0G CPU. The on-board Realtek 8169 NIC cannot be recognized. (Default configuration was used, I just "make world" and installed the dist.) I used "lspci" in the native Linux and got: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 82915G/P/GV/GL/PL/910GL Memory Controller Hub (rev 0e) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82915G/P/GV/GL/PL/910GL PCI Express Root Port (rev 0e) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82915G/GV/910GL Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0e) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #1 (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #2 (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #3 (rev 03) 00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #4 (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 PCI Bridge (rev d3) 00:1e.2 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) AC''97 Audio Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FR (ICH6/ICH6R) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) IDE Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FW (ICH6/ICH6W) SATA Controller (rev 03) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 03) 02:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10) But in Xen-linux, the last line was missing. I am guessing dom0 kernel failed to probe PCI bus 02:xx.x To try something more, I plugged an Realtek 8169 card in a PCI slot, in native Linux, the device was probed as: 02:01.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10) And in Xen-linux, the probing failed again. Help! Re: [Xen-devel] Re: [Xen-users] miss probing pci devices with Xen 3.4.2
Hi, Sorry for the delayed reply. I was running dom0 kernel download from mercurial repository when "make world". The version is 2.6.18.8-xen. And I used the default kernel config. I cannot post the dmesg now as I am on a trip. If that''s critical for the diagnosis, I will post them asap. Thanks! -Fred On Sun, Feb 7, 2010 at 7:56 PM, Pasi Kärkkäinen <pasik@iki.fi> wrote:> On Sun, Feb 07, 2010 at 01:44:43PM +0200, Pasi Kärkkäinen wrote: > > Forwarding to xen-devel.. > > Is there some hypervisor boot option to try? > > > > Shouldn''t read email before drinking coffee in the morning.. > Thinking more about this, I guess pci access is totally up to dom0 kernel. > > So what dom0 kernel are you running?
