Developers: I have started work on our Xen 4.0 Datasheet which will allow customers/prospects/users to learn about the newest hypervisor offering from Xen.org. I currently have the following list in the document: * Kernel Upgrade o PVOps Dom0 Kernel based on Linux (version number) * Blktap2 o Support VHD format o Snapshot virtual disks o Command-line invocation method * High Availability (Project Remus & Kemari) o Up to date replica of a VM on backup server * Netchannel2 o Lazy copy in guest o Support multi-queue NIC, Smart NIC, SR-IOV * Page Sharing o VMs share identical pages in memory * Libxenlight o High level operations shared across all Xen toolstacks * Support for Virtualization-aware Applications * Transcendent Memory - RAM utilization capabilities * Multi-function PCI pass-through Please let me know if I missed a feature or if I need to make any changes to this list. Hello Pasi, PV-USB is not yet in the default pvops kernel that is going to ship with 4.0 or am i mistaken ? Will it before 4.0 comes out ? This could deliver some confusion, if the hypervisor supports things it''s default dom0 kernel doesn''t yet. -- Sander Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 9:07:47 PM, you wrote:> On Wed, Jan 27, 2010 at 08:35:46PM +0200, Sassy Natan wrote: >> What About PV-USB support? >>> Yeah, PV-USB is there, and also VGA Passthrough.> -- Pasi>> >> On 1/27/10, Stephen Spector <[1]stephen.spector@citrix.com> wrote: >> >> Developers: >> >> >> >> I have started work on our Xen 4.0 Datasheet which will allow >> customers/prospects/users to learn about the newest hypervisor offering >> from Xen.org. Per-CPU vector is supported in Xen4.0 and it can support many interrupt sources, so should benefit the systems which are installed some SR-IOV devices or large systems which has lots of interrupt sources. Hello Pasi, Yes it''s a transition period, with the new kernel not being complete in terms of xen functionality, but more complete and recent in terms of linux hardware drivers. The same will apply for blktap2, and perhaps netchannel2 as well unless those get fixed in time. Wish i could help, but i lack the programming skills to do so. Haven''t seen a reaction from Stephen yet if there is a hypervisor/dom0-kernel-xen-related boot options document available as start for a new wiki. -- Sander Thursday, January 28, 2010, 9:29:36 AM, you wrote:> On Thu, Jan 28, 2010 at 09:26:23AM +0100, Sander Eikelenboom wrote: >> Hello Pasi, >> >> PV-USB is not yet in the default pvops kernel that is going to ship with 4.0 or am i mistaken ? >> Will it before 4.0 comes out ? >>> True, it''s only in Xen and in linux-2.6.18-xen.>> This could deliver some confusion, if the hypervisor supports things it''s default dom0 kernel doesn''t yet. >>> Yep.
