Hello, did another x86_32 boot test and got the first few lines of output from the kernel over serial line. It still crashes. Log attached. Marc _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel

It assumes it can create 2M pages, which causes crashes under Xen. Also, do you have CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER enabled? If not, it would make the backtraces clearer. Should i giv it a try under xen-3.3? (Have to reinstall it as i installed the whole unstable tree on this test box.) [Xen-devel] Re: Failure to load 2.6.29-rc7 under Xen Unstable on Q9550 & ASUS P5Q-E box
Boris, Marc, Does this (completely untested) patch help? J>From b1c3f75e22eef9077caf5204f0c75e5ca0c808e9 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001From: Jeremy Fitzhardinge <jeremy.fitzhardinge@citrix.com> Date: Sat, 7 Mar 2009 17:09:27 -0800 Subject: [PATCH] xen: mask XSAVE from cpuid Xen leaves XSAVE set in cpuid, but doesn''t allow cr4.OSXSAVE to be set. This confuses the kernel and it ends up crashing on an xsetbv instruction. At boot time, try to set cr4.OSXSAVE, and mask XSAVE out of cpuid it we can''t. This will produce a spurious error from Xen, but allows us to support XSAVE if/when Xen does. This also factors out the cpuid mask decisions to boot time. Login via console and SSH was possible. A dmesg output out of the running system is attached. On hvc0 i saw the cursor moving but it didn''t print any text to the screen. I think Gerd was reporting that already a while back. I''ll try to catch some more logs over serial line and also running with xen-3.3.1 today.
