Xen devel - Jul 2005 - DMTF CIM/WBEM extensions for virtual machines

Does anyone know of work being done to extend CIM or WBEM for managing 
virtual machines?

I am not personally aware of any official standards efforts for
management of virtual machines but I have forwarded the question to our
committee members for confirmation.

VMware''s VirtualCenter SDK
(http://www.vmware.com/pdf/SDKReferenceGuide.pdf,
http://www.vmware.com/pdf/SDKProgrammingGuide.pdf) provides a
comprehensive WebService management interface covering configuration,
monitoring and management of both hosts and VMs and they also provide an
experimental CIM object model and CIMOM
(http://www.vmware.com/pdf/VMware_CIM_SDK_Programming_Guide.pdf). (I
don''t have any experience using the CIM interfaces so I can''t
comment on
them).

Microsoft VirtualServer uses COM/WMI.

Hi Brian,

There''s a proposal for a Virtual Server model that has been presented
to
the DMTF as part of the Redundancy Work Group. HP, as well as IBM, are
participating in this proposal. Susan Campbell and Chris Brown are
participating from HP and Ron Goering is participating from IBM. 

I have the following link to the work group, it (unfortunately) needs a
