I've uploaded Xapian 0.9.7: http://www.xapian.org/download.php Some highlights of this release: * The remote backend has been rewritten to be faster, use less network bandwidth, and support database updating. * The DB transaction API has implemented. * Assorted enhancements and bugfixes have been made to the QueryParser. * Omega now supports htdig's "ignore this bit" comments, stores MD5s, lastmod times, and file sizes. Excel and Powerpoint files can be indexed, and PDFs and OpenDocument files are indexed faster. * PHP5 and PHP4 class wrappers are now included. * Xapian::MatchDecider can now be subclassed in C# and Ruby. Full details of the changes can be found using the links next to each component on the download page. Enjoy! Cheers, Olly
Did the "near/5" mod make it into 0.9.7? I didn't see it in the release notes for Omega. THanks, Jim. Hi Olly, Will the "old" 0.9.6ish zlib-patch still work on this version? If not do you have a new version for me? Do you expect to integrate it in a release anytime? Or do you think the Flint-backend won't improve much from zlib-compression and can better be used without it, especially with your other upcoming (size-related) improvements? By the way, I missed the messages about the alternative block-size for the compaction of flint and quartz, is 8KB the best value for large databases? Or mostly used as default because it always was? Best regards, Arjen van der Meijden PS, My apologies for ending each sentence with a question mark ;-) On 11-10-2006 13:24 Olly Betts wrote:> I've uploaded Xapian 0.9.7: > > http://www.xapian.org/download.php > > Some highlights of this release: > > * The remote backend has been rewritten to be faster, use less network > bandwidth, and support database updating. > > * The DB transaction API has implemented. > > * Assorted enhancements and bugfixes have been made to the QueryParser. > > * Omega now supports htdig's "ignore this bit" comments, stores MD5s, > lastmod times, and file sizes.
