wxruby users - Nov 2003 - How to trigger an event?

Sorry, but this is probably more of a wxWindows question, but I find
it quite hard to wade through all those docs...

How do I trigger an event?  Like if I want to force a repaint, how 
do I do that? Is there some kind of refresh or repaint method?
