I have found the performance of PC Navigator 8 running under wine 1.0.1 to be very disappointing. I have Asus EeePC 901. Initially I tried running it under Xandros and this was a failure, no sound, no file association. I have run it with EasyPeasy 1.1 and am currently using eeebuntu, both of these give the same results, moderately successful but still not to be recommended. When installing all appeared well, SetUp ran and allowed me to load MapExplorer and Navigator 8 (Nav8). It does not allow the applications to be updated. On subsequent launches both SetUp and mapExplorer crash with an error code R6034, caused during the accessing of the C++ runtime libraries Nav 8 will not close properly except with the System monitor. When run for sometime as on a journey the Power Management settings are corrupted with the screen going blank after around 15 minutes, can be refreshed by touching the touchpad, and the loss of the ability to close the pc down in a controlled manner. I have downloaded wine tricks and installed: vcrun2005 MS Visual C++ 2005 libraries (mfc80,msvcp80,msvcr80) vcrun2005sp1 MS Visual C++ 2005 sp1 libraries This does not appear to make any difference, but was done post install of Nav8
