Hi Im Dominik. Since Wine-Version 1.1.23 I`ve some serious Problems with the Windows-Installer. It seems that there is a bug in it, because most of my Games wont work anymore. The installer hangs while loading. The only chance to get it work is to give it a Ctrl + C in terminal. In Wine-Version 1.1.22 the installer works just fine. Dominik. As you noted, downgrading to wine-1.1.22 works around those issues. You can also do a regression testing http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting and report you findings to bugzilla.
