wine users - May 2009 - flash 8 pro not working anymore

hi here
i have been using flash 8 pro for over a year with wine and aside from issues
with gecko it has worked fine. however recently and for reasons i have no idea
about how to troubleshoot flash has suddenly stopped working in wine. how can i
go about fixing this problem.
any help is greatly appreciated.

ps i'm using ubuntu 8.10 with wine 1.1.21
