I have a Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) PC running Wine 1.0-rc4 and am attempting to
install QuickBooks Premier 2007 for a customer who hates Vista and will switch
to Linux if I can get this to work.
However, the install program keeps failing. QuickBooks insists on having
.NetFrame 1.1 installed but always fails when it tries to install it. So, I did
a rm -rf ~/.wine to start fresh and then installed winetricks and then used
winetricks to install: dotnet11 followed by gecko, allfonts and fakeie6. Then
installed Firefox for Windows just as a test application.
Attempted a fresh install of QuickBooks and it still insisted on installing
.NetFrame 1.1. During that phase of the install I get what appears to be a Wine
or Ubuntu error window which says "SLbfc7.tmp - Common Language Runtime
Deb" in the title and then: "Application has generated an exception
that could not be handled. Process id=0x5b (91), Thread id=0x5d (93)." Then
click OK to terminate the application or click Cancel to debug. I click OK, the
install window disappears and then the next QuickBooks install window comes up
and continues the install, asking for licensing info etc. After several minutes
QuickBooks says "The installation was interrupted before QuicBooks could be
installed."
If I click Cancel to debug I get "no debugger attached" and then I
click on retry and the install program seems to just be stuck in a loop.
The only other clue I can give you is this is a fresh Ubuntu install with the
only change to the base install being ies4linux. (I put this on because I found
that it solved some problems with another computer where I am running Quicken
inside of Darwine).
Sorry for the long post but wanted to get all the details out.
Appreciate any help you can give.
