What do you find preferable? Installing from sources or installing from binary packages?

No doubt about it, I compile from source. Which is sad because I use binaries for everything else when possible. I've ran into too many quarky things with the binaries - some of which include the fact that I can't run Wine unless I'm root or the class path isn't added by default.
