I bought a pc-based usb oscilloscope a while ago, and unfortunately the drivers and software are windows-only. This is one of the few applications that I still need windows for. Is there any chance of getting the software to run under Wine?

Wine doesn't support USB and doesn't load drivers in any more. Ivan.

I thought it was used e.g. for >SafeDisc support.wine doesn't load drivers in any way, there was partial support for safedisk, but it will probably be the only drivers it will ever load. It did once support win3.1 printer drivers, but that has been removed some time ago. In any case wine doesn't work with USB yet. That will probably be fixed in the future, in the distant future. Ivan.

VMware is a proprietary emulator that has USB support, but it requires an expensive vmware license and an expansive windows license. You've very welcome to add USB support to Wine, if you wish to do so, please contact the wine-devel list as soon as possible, the guys there will tell you what you need to know. Ivan.
