wine users - Jul 2004 - _RTFGetToken: stack underflow and steam installation

Hi,

i just installed/compiled wine cvs, everything looks cool.
when i run Valves Steam CS Installer however i get an empty window. the 
output says:


_RTFGetToken: stack underflow
Last token read was "}" near line 107694, position 1.


this message comes up repeatedly and loops - with "near line xxx" 
increasing.

anyone had this problem before? what can i do?
